Every morning late and hate that time ran fast and regret the time you wasted in the night, Don’t worry; you are not alone. There are plenty, including me. I always imagine the entire world and time are frozen. So, I can sleep the whole time and do some productive writing to improve my blog.
What If the time is frozen; I mean, your clock’s battery is gone(still, who uses the wall clock, look into the mobile, Dude). I know you’re what if everything dried up including you’re mobile. Also, you can run your wall clock without buying any battery just using this trick.
Things you need:
- Plastic Cup
- Copper wire
- Copper strip
- Multimeter(only for checking the output voltage)
Let’s start making the battery
If you don’t have a multimeter. Then connect your clock to the battery to find out if the clock is working.
Fill your plastic cup 3/4 with soda if you don’t use plastic cups due to climate change. Then use paper and styrofoam cups are also handy here.
Now drink the remaining part of the soda and empty the soda can. Make sure it’s completely empty.
Cur a small piece of aluminium can using scissors, Be careful with the scissors and the aluminium strip. They can be able to make some tiny marks on your precious hands.
After careful cutting, you got the aluminium strip piece and the copper plate. Now dip 75 per cent of these two plates plunge into the soda. Which is already kept in the paper cup; make sure there’s no contact between these two plates.
Now connect a small piece of copper wires to the plates above the cup level and measure them using the multimeter. They are capable of running the clock for several days. Once in a while, you change the soda to run the clock.

So, How is it working?
Here, the two plates are known as electrodes and soda acts here as the electrolytes. Electrodes are metals based on the electron config they are classified into two, one that provides electrons and become positive and the one that absorbs more electrons and becomes negative.
Here the electrons move through the electrolytes. Also, there’s an important aspect that is electrode potential the difference between the electrode potential is known as the emf or the potential difference created by the battery.
Here, the electrode potential of Copper is +0.34 V.
Electrode potential for the Aluminium is -1.67 V.
Therefore, the difference is almost 1.3 V. So, our battery can produce 1.3 V. The wall clock can work on this potential, although it requires 1.5 V. So, we created our cute reusable battery as long as you have a budget to buy soda or sugar.
